Troubleshooting
If the drum is spinning but there is no heat, there could be a wide range of causes. Here are the most frequent ones.
Faulty fuse
It is a small part located in the exhaust duct in the back panel of the machine. When a fuse breaks down it may cause inappropriate temperature profile. Faulty thermal fuse always needs replacement. However, it is not a problem, as it is quite a cheap part that could be found in any hardware store.
Defective temperature switch
Damaged temperature switch could also prevent your dryer from heating properly. To check its condition you need to remove the temperature switch knob and then unscrew the back panel to access the switch itself. It is a relatively simple and quick job. But if you feel uncomfortable working with appliances, get professional help.
Faulty heating coils
Be sure you wear protective gloves before you begin. The heating element is located under the back panel. Open up a back panel using a screwdriver and remove the heating element. Examine the coils for any visual damage. Since you cannot always tell by looking, it is best to perform a continuity test.
Defective belt
Its purpose is to spin the drum. If the belt is too lose or ripped, it will not be able to function properly. It is located inside the dryer and attached to the pulley and motor shaft. Replacing the belt is a difficult and time-consuming job. You will definitely need the help of the appliance technician.
Faulty drum rollers
Remove protective panel to access the inner part of your dryer. Remove the drum to reach the support rollers. Use the snap ring pliers to release the snap ring. Then pull up the old roller and replace it. As this job requires disassembling the major part of the dryer it might be a very complicated task.
Damaged motor
Open up the panel and then remove the belt and motor shaft. Remember to remove the two retaining clips, securing the motor. Next, disconnect the motor wires and unthread the blower wheel using a wrench. Now you are ready to replace the faulty part. Make sure you assemble the dryer exactly as it was before.
The heating is provided by two main parts: broil and bake elements. When you select the bake or broil function the oven control allows voltage to travel to the appropriate element and causing it to heat. If the element fails to glow red, then it is likely that it has burned out. That means your oven is using only one element to heat. This leads to uneven heating.
