BBQ grill repair in Los Angeles isn’t seasonal work — it’s year-round. Between the Westside, the Valley, and the hills above Beverly Hills, people are grilling in January. That also means gas lines, burners, igniters, and regulators are in constant use, and they wear out. Whether you’ve got a freestanding Weber on your patio or a built-in DCS in a full outdoor kitchen, we fix it.
Call us at (323) 806-3039 — most BBQ grill repairs are same-week.
Gas Grill vs. Built-In Outdoor Kitchen Repairs
These are two very different jobs, and the distinction matters.
A freestanding gas grill — your Weber Genesis, Napoleon Prestige, or Char-Broil — is relatively straightforward. Burners, igniters, and regulators are standardized, parts are usually in stock, and most repairs can be completed in one visit.
A built-in outdoor kitchen grill is a different animal. Brands like Viking, Wolf, DCS, Lynx, and Kalamazoo build commercial-grade grills designed to be set into masonry or stainless steel enclosures. The burners are heavier, the ignition systems are more complex, and accessing the gas valve usually means disassembling part of the enclosure. Labor time is longer, and parts lead times can stretch to 1–2 weeks for premium brands.
Outdoor kitchens are everywhere in Los Angeles — and for good reason. When you can grill 330 days a year, it makes sense to invest. But that investment needs maintenance to stay functional. A built-in grill that’s been sitting unused through a wet El Niño winter can develop corrosion, spider-web clogs in the burner ports, and igniter failures that won’t be obvious until you fire it up on a Sunday afternoon with guests arriving in an hour.
Common BBQ Grill Problems We Fix
Burners won’t light: Usually a failed igniter electrode, a clogged burner port, or a bad spark module. On older grills, the electrodes corrode and can’t generate a reliable spark. On any grill that sat outside uncovered through rain, moisture gets into the igniter switches and causes continuous cycling or no spark at all.
Low or uneven flame: Almost always a clogged burner or a failing gas regulator. Burner ports clog with grease residue and spider webs — yes, spiders love to nest in gas orifices that haven’t been used for a while, and a single spider web can block enough gas flow to make a burner useless. A regulator that’s beginning to fail drops supply pressure across all burners simultaneously.
Flame won’t stay lit: The most frustrating grill symptom. Usually caused by a regulator in bypass mode (a safety feature that triggers when it detects a pressure drop) or a bad gas valve. Before calling us, try this: turn everything off including the tank valve, wait 30 seconds, open the tank valve slowly, then light normally. If the flame still goes out, you need service.
Grease fires and flare-ups: Occasional flare-up is normal. Constant intense flare-ups mean the grease management system is overloaded — the drip tray and catch pan need cleaning or replacement. We clean and service the full grease system as part of a maintenance visit.
Igniter clicking but not lighting: Food debris or moisture in the igniter electrode area. If cleaning around the electrode doesn’t fix it, the electrode is cracked or the spark module has failed. We diagnose which one so we’re not replacing a working module.
Why LA Weather Is Hard on Grills
This is something out-of-state appliance guides don’t cover. Southern California’s climate has specific effects on outdoor grills that you don’t see in other parts of the country.
Salt air corrosion is significant within several miles of the coast — Santa Monica, Malibu, Venice, Marina del Rey, Playa del Rey. Salt air accelerates oxidation on steel burner tubes, igniter electrodes, and gas valve housings faster than in inland areas. A grill that would last 15 years in Phoenix might start having burner failures at 7–8 years near the beach. We see this constantly.
UV degradation from year-round intense sun breaks down igniter switch plastics, regulator diaphragms, and vinyl grill covers faster than in climates with more cloud cover. If your regulator’s diaphragm cracks from UV exposure, the grill will go into bypass mode and you’ll get almost no flame.
Seasonal use gaps create problems. Some clients only grill heavily in summer, and a grill that sits from October to May can develop rust, clogged burner ports from spider webs, and seized valve stems. A pre-season inspection and cleaning visit in spring or early summer is worth it.

Grill Maintenance Tips
A few things from years of service calls that make a real difference:
Clean the burner ports annually. Use a wire brush designed for grill burners — not a wire brush you’d use on anything else. Brush the ports perpendicular to the holes, not along them, to avoid pushing debris further in. Do this after the first major use of the season.
Check gas connections every year. Brush soapy water on all connection points with the gas flowing. Bubbles mean a leak. On any grill more than 5 years old, have the flexible supply hose inspected — they crack and shouldn’t be ignored.
Clean the grease trap after every 5–10 uses. In LA’s heat, old grease in the drip tray reaches temperatures where it can ignite spontaneously. It takes 3 minutes and prevents a real fire hazard.
Store regulators properly. If you disconnect the tank for storage, cap the regulator inlet. Spiders and insects find the small opening perfect for nesting, and a blocked regulator inlet is an entirely avoidable service call.
